SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, provides support services in the area of benefits, budgets, emergency management, data input, file management and HR sponsored events. The primary area of focus will be in the benefits coordination arena. The successful candidate must be willing to cross train for other positions on the HR team; HR is a service oriented department and all HR staff work together to provide services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Conduct new employee orientations which includes in part providing explanation of and enrolling new employees in benefits
Address benefit queries from employees
Work closely with insurance brokers and supplemental insurance representatives to provide information and services to employees
Participate in tribal employee benefits renewal process each year, including preparation for and conducting benefits open enrollment process each December
Prepare for and provide informational benefit presentation at annual all-staff meetings
Process paperwork for disability claims and workman’s comp claims, monitor claims, maintain files, and address issues regarding claims
Answer inquiries from Employment Security regarding claims
Maintain compliance with COBRA regulations
Maintain medical and FMLA files, ensure federal regulation compliance
Participate in the planning and implementation of All-Staff meetings and functions
Draft and assist with tracking HR budgets
Provide clerical assistance as needed; assist with data input, and file management
Attend Emergency Management training and participate in all EOC meetings
Other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and 2 years of relevant experience; OR Associate of Arts Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and 4 years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years of relevent experience. PHR and SPHR certification with all levels of education is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and sole geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License; prefer PHR or SPHR certification; HR classes may substitute.
