SUMMARY
Performs specialized accounting functions such as the processing and monitoring of accounts payable, fixed assets, per capita, requisitions and purchase orders. Incumbent may perform a variety of financial review functions such as managing accounts payable, contract compliance, or monitoring budgets to ensure there are funds for payment. Positions in this class are considered working-level professional accounting specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)
Monitors accounting system and financial activities.
Reviews and analyzes financial data for trends or anomalies.
Processes Purchase Orders from approved Requisitions.
Processes Accounts Payable.
Receives invoices and reconciles with vendor statements.
Maintains vendors to include merging, renaming, etc.
Processes payments and reconciles per capita or distributions.
Monitors and assists with bi-annual physical inventory of Accountable Assets.
Coordinates and assists with annual physical inventory of Fixed Assets.
Monitors acquisitions, disposals, and changes in inventory.
Prepares and maintains physical record files of Fixed Assets.
Coordinates monitors and pays property taxes.
Prepares and verifies monthly depreciation entries.
Assists with coordination of assets with insurance records.
Reconciles accounts as necessary or as requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree with major study in accounting or a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting and one year of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR Associate of Arts Degree with major study in accounting with a minimum of 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting and three years of professional accounting or auditing experience; OR High School graduation or GED and five years of professional accounting experience providing 20 semester or 30 quarter hours of college-level accounting are achieved.
Accounts Payable and automated accounting system experience is desirable.
Note: Financial positions must be bondable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, (clear vision at 20 inches or less); color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors) and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). This job entails a lot of close up reading, interpreting, and keying. Focus must shift easily from that surface to computer screen and vice versa.
