SUMMARY
A TANF Planner will write and develop proposals for projects and activities for the Squaxin Island TANF Site, within the federal codes and policies relevant to the TANF program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned. Write proposals for Squaxin Island TANF projects and activities. Assist with the development and implementation of training opportunities as directed by and with general guidance from the TANF Site Manager in adherence with the federal codes and policies relevant to the TANF program. Assist the TANF Site Manager or other program staff in preparing proposals for community development, transportation, heritage, education, social services, and health care projects in relation to activities offered by the TANF program for TANF clients. Create comprehensive plans that support TANF objectives in conjunction with the Tribe’s overall strategic plan. Write grants for community participation in TANF activities. Performs other work as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Have strong computer skills with three plus years using Microsoft Office or similar software. Have good organizational skills. Have good conflict resolution skills. Be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing. Ability to work effectively, independently and cooperatively with others. Maintain confidentiality of records and information at all times. Be able to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Knowledge and related experience with the TANF Program is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree and two years of related planning experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and four years of related planning experience. OR Associate of Arts Degree and six years of related planning experience OR High School Diploma or GED and eight years of related planning experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Washington State Drivers License and proof of insurance.
