Legal
The Squaxin Island Legal Department provides services as directed by the Tribal Council and its delegate, the executive director, to all areas of tribal government and enterprises as well as the Northwest Indian Treatment Center. The Legal Department is located at 3711 SE Old Olympic Highway, approximately one mile from the main Tribal Center.
The
Legal Department does extensive research, writes formal written opinions
and facilitates solutions regarding legal matters facing the Tribe and
its subsidiaries; defends tribal treaty rights; assists the Tribe in
developing plans; provides litigation assessment and representation;
participates in negotiations with state, local and federal agencies;
attempts to anticipate and remain alert as to possible legal challenges
and threats to tribal interests by monitoring case law and legal publications;
and provides legislative services, including meetings with legislators
on key bills and publication and distribution of legislative updates
with analysis.

Squaxin Island Tribe Legal Department is providing this information
as a public service. These regulations
and related materials are maintained on this Web site to enhance public
access to information on Tribal Laws. This is a service that is
continually under development. The user should be aware that,
while we try to keep the information timely and accurate, there will
often be a delay between official publication of the materials and their
appearance or modification of these pages. The information posted
is also not always intended to be the definitive authority. The
Tribal Code Book and the Tribal Resolutions remain the official source
for regulatory information published by the Department. We
will make every effort to correct errors brought to our attention.
